Being close to nature can be the most relaxing and rewarding time that anyone can spend. So many people go about their daily lives rushing around with no time left to spare, leaving everything to the last minute. We all need a little time to stop and relax; allowing our selves to absorb what nature can show us. Most stressrelated problems are caused by not allowing enough time in our lives to do things that we would really like to do. Sometimes as little as five minutes can be enough to leave a memory in our mind forever. That is how long it had taken the sun to paint the sky with such beautiful colours and then to fade away leaving with me the inspiration from spirit, to write this poem called Sunrise. I thought how fortunate I had been to witness such a lovely event, when so many people at this time of the morning were still sleeping. Yet wouldn’t this world be a better place if everyone were to awake and open their eyes, and realise how much there is to enjoy around us. I have always noticed various things in nature that stand out. Such as how the clouds make different shapes, resembling faces in sky. Or between heavy rainstorms, how the huge cumulus clouds that stretch high up into the sky, with the sun shining brightly on their many curves of white, enhancing a beautiful sky blue background. In our busy lives while we go about doing our everyday business, there is so much going on in the background that we miss. Sometimes just standing still and looking around, maybe enough for you to witness some of nature’s many events that will hold your attention long enough, to make an impression on your mind, just like the sunrise on that morning that had left its image on my mind forever.
Sunrise
O wondrous light that wakens the dawn, fills with such beauty, the sky on this morn.
My soul has been touched, and filled with delight. My memory will hold, this most wondrous sight.
An artist’s brush, could not display, this beauty I have seen today.
Now as the sun, begins to rise. The scene dissolves, before my eyes.
